Hedgerow olives in the Alentejo: the Singaolive story
162 hectares of hedgerow olive grove at Quinta de São Vicente, in Ferreira do Alentejo (Portugal). Olivogestão designed the planting and Magos installed the irrigation system.
The 162-hectare hedgerow olive grove at Quinta de São Vicente, in Ferreira do Alentejo, was designed for Singaolive by Olivogestão, which has offered this service since 2003. The farm was planted as a hedgerow olive grove at 4 x 1.30 m.
A simpler project
«The design of this estate was much simpler, as the soil was more uniform and the relief was gentler», explains Bruno Cantinho, executive director of Olivogestão. The irrigation system was installed by Magos Irrigation Systems, and everything went smoothly.
The keys to a good irrigation system
«If we ensure good filtration, enough pressure to water the whole plot, 1 kg of pressure in the most difficult sector of the plot and automation working perfectly, the irrigation system is a success, and that is what happened», says Bruno Cantinho.
