Description
Joaquim Banza, a reference farmer in the Baixo Alentejo in the production of annual crops (cereals, oilseeds and protein crops), is currently also an investor in olive groves.
In recent years he has planted 120 hectares of olive grove in hedge, of which 30 hectares are irrigated with a system installed by Magos Irrigation Systems. «It’s important to diversify the investment, but our main intention has been to take advantage of the small areas of land in the pivotal corners where irrigation is not as efficient and the annual crops are less productive», explains Joaquim Banza, adding that «in general I am pleased with the work done by Magos Irrigation Systems».
The olive groves are of the varieties Arbequina (70%) and Arbosana (30%) and he will hold in 2019 his first olive harvest in 35 hectares.
